Historical tour
Found in 681, Bulgaria is one of the oldest European countries. But even with its 13-century tradition in fact it is a mere “baby” comparing with the history of the civilization in nowadays Bulgarian lands. Bulgaria ranks third in cultural and historical heritage in Europe. It is only Italy and Greece that are in front of us in number and variety of cultural and historical monuments.
8 - DAY of Historical tour
DAY 1 | Meeting at Sofia Airport and accommodation in a hotel. |

DAY 2 | You will visit the unique architectural monument and a treasure house of cultural and artistic valuables, included in UNESCO list – Rila Monastery, after that you will spend the night in the architectural reserve Koprivshtitsa. |
DAY 3 | You will have the opportunity to visit the second biggest monastery in Bulgaria – Bachkovo Monastery. For the rest of the day you will have a walk around the old part of the town of Plovdiv, where you will see the beautiful houses in Bulgarian Revival style and the Ancient Theater, build in II c. B.C. |
DAY 4 | On the fourth day of the tour you will see the Thracian Tomb of Kazanlak and “The Museum of Rose”, symbols of the town of Kazanlak. The next visit is to the Monument of Freedom on Shipka peak, where during the Russian-Turkish War one of the most crucial battles took place. Before spending the night in Bozhentsi you will dip into the spirit, lifestyle and culture of Bulgarian Revival in the open-air Architectural-Ethnographic Complex Etar. |
DAY 5 | You will spend the fifth day in one of the oldest Bulgarian capitals – Veliko Tarnovo. You will take a walk along the narrow streets of the Samovodska charshia, you will visit the Monument of the Assens, as well as Tsarevets Fortress. The next accommodation will be in one of the most picturesque villages in the country – Arbanasi. |
DAY 6 | The group will set off for the capital of the First Bulgarian Empire – Pliska. In “Pliska” historical-archeological reserve there are remnants of monumental archeological sites on area of 23 km2. In the Archeological Museum one can see the lifestyle of the people form VII-X c., their material and spiritual culture. The next visit is to the historical-archeological reserve with museum "The Great Preslav", situated on the ruins of the old Bulgaria capital Great Preslav (893-972). |
DAY 7 | On the next day the rout will lead you to the impressive “Madara Rider”, carved in a rock massif at 23 meters height from its base. The next stop is the hometown of the poet and revolutionary, Hristo Botev - Kalofer. Here you will visit his birthplace house-museum and the building of Botev’s school. |
DAY 8 | Transfer to the Airport. |
